Tales by the Sea opens 2022 with six tellers.

Dorothy Randall, poet, author of bestseller Soul Between The Lines, award-winning artist, and global activist who has shared the dais with the Dalai Lama, and the dance floor with James Baldwin. A Hedgebrook Fellow and LA Poet-in-Residence, she formerly served as special delegate to UNESCO, National Public Radio commentator, International Women’s Writing Guild board member, and Hunter College Poet-In-Residence. She was one of only ten U.S. women chosen to teach at China’s Sias International University under the Give Voice To Women Through The Arts program. Dorothy has been featured at the famed Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and the World Stage. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including Coiled Serpent, Altadena Poetry Review, Spell Breaking, Drum Voices, SisterFire, Conditions, Sinister Wisdom, 2020:The Year That Changed America, and in her latest book of poetry, Sharing The Same Sky. Annie Korzen has recently become a TikTok sensation, with features about her in the LA Times Calendar Section, and the CBS Evening News. Annie was the recurring Doris Klompus on Seinfeld. She has written humorous essays for NPR’s Morning Edition, The New York Times, LA Times, and many more, and has performed her solo shows on three continents. Antonio Sacre tells stories. His tales of growing up bilingually in a Cuban and Irish-American household have inspired children worldwide to gather their own family stories and become storytellers themselves. His stories have been published in award-winning books and audio recordings. His Professional Developments and Keynote addresses have helped educators teach writing to students from pre-Kindergarten through graduate school. Now his stories are being developed for film and television. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two children, and two cats. Yes, he’s a cat guy. He tells, The Five Orphans.

Xaque Gruber’s first television writing credit came with reuniting the cast of his favorite 80s soap, “Dynasty,” for the 2006 CBS special “Dynasty Reunion: Catfights & Caviar.” His TV credits include “The Michael Jackson Memorial Service,” the launch of the Oprah Winfrey Network, “E! Live From The Red Carpet,” and “Hollywood Squares,” where he was the final contestant ever on the long running game show. “The Pistol,” the first short film he wrote/directed premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Xaque’s first feature length film as writer/director is “Sallywood,” an autobiographical comedy starring Sally Kirkland & Jennifer Tilly, which will be released in 2022. When he isn’t writing or making films, he paints. Xaque’s fine art has been seen in galleries across the country. He teaches art to all ages nationwide since 1990 – including at Alzheimer’s homes. He is the first art therapist in the State of Florida to work with chemotherapy patients. In 1999 he was nominated for Massachusetts Art Teacher of the Year. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Drawing from Pratt Institute as well as two graduate degrees: one from Tufts University in Art Education, and a second from Boston University in Television Production. Susie Duff—a classically trained veteran of Broadway, radio, television, and feature films—is into her fourth decade as the creator, producer, and director of LOCKED UP IN MALIBU, an on-going improvisational master class and award winning improv troupe of 14-to-18-year-old angels-with-dirty-faces who are locked up in the Los Angeles County Juvenile Detention Probation Camps.
