Friday, September 17th Traditional and True personal stories blended together to create one exceptional evening.

Our next show is going to be fun and different. All the tellers are performing stories that are part personal story and part traditional story, skillfully weaved together. We’re calling it “BRAIDED STORIES.”

  • Heather Forest
    Heather Forest is a storyteller, author, and musician whose repertoire of world tales are told in a fusion of poetry, prose, original music and the sung and spoken word. She lives on a small family farm on Long Island and has been featured in major storytelling festivals throughout the United States and abroad. She is a recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award from the National Storytelling Network.
  • Mo Reynolds
    Mo Reynolds is a storyteller based in beautiful Northwest Montana. When she isn’t running from Grizzlies or shopping for new bandanas, she is performing in schools and festivals. She’s been a featured teller at the Florida Storytelling Festival and, most recently, the Women’s Storytelling Festival. You might also have seen her as an emcee and storyteller in online shows with Teton Storytelling Festival, Better Said Than Done, and Artists Standing Strong Together. Mo also visits schools and communities around Montana, blending personal narratives with folk tales and leading workshops to help audiences explore how they can do the same.     She lives with her family in beautiful Northwest Montana and works to send out stories and words that create connections. She has a B.A. and M.A. in English literature, 3 kids, 1 husband, 2 dogs, and 15 chickens.
  • Laura Simms
    Laura is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, recording artist, coach and writer. She combines traditional stories with personal narrative in profoundly uncanny and riveting performances. Her teaching and storytelling are legendary. She is a contributing editor for Parabola Magazine and is the artistic director of the Hans Christian Andersen Storytelling Center, NY. Laura served as a Senior Research Fellow at Rutgers University Peace Center under the auspices of UNESCO. She won the Sesame Street SUNNY DAYS AWARD for her work with children worldwide, and has appeared at: Nobel Peace Festival in Oslo, in theaters and festivals worldwide. Laura;s recording Four Legged Tales was a runner up Grammy. She has written five books and saved a zoo in Romania. . Her most recent books are OUR SECRET TERRITORY and THE ROBE OF LOVE.
  • Linda Yemoto
    As a park naturalist for over 35 years, she was called “Ranger Linda” by hundreds of school children and families in the San Francisco Bay Area. Linda recognized early how stories could enhance the messages in her nature programs. Today she loves adding natural and cultural information to her folktales and personal stories.
    She served on the Board of Directors for the National Storytelling Network for six years and chaired the Bay Area Storytelling Festival for over 30 years. Since retiring, she volunteers as a storyteller and docent as the SF Asian Art Museum where she enjoys interpreting the art through storytelling.
    Linda is a part of Asian American Storytellers in Unity who have created a YouTube channel of stories and activities to promote awareness and appreciation of Asian American culture.
